The Missions and Ministry Center's Mobile Laundry Unit was activated September 8, 2008, as a result of Hurricane Gustav. The unit was finished on September 5th, so this was its first trip. We were sent to Baton Rouge and worked outside of a big hanger at the airport. Notice some of the scenes captured during the activation.
The unit was called out to support a National Guard Unit from Kansas. 137 men were in need of clean clothes when we arrived. They were housed in a hanger at the Baton Rouge Airport.
Needed for future activations:
People with trucks willing to tow the unit.
People who are good handymen or women able to work with gas and electrical connections and run generators (we have 2 5500 generators).
People willing to wash clothes.
Three to four person teams work well.
Finances. This activation cost around $1700.
Call Brother Randy at 318-377-3005 if interested in volunteering.
