Welcome to the WCB Ministry and Ministry Center

Webster-Claiborne and Bienville Associations are composed of 60 churches committed to reaching our world for Christ. The Great Commission appearing below, taken from Matthew 28:18-20, provides our orders. We seek to obey our Lord's command thus introducing our world to Jesus Christ

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20  NIV

Our churches are both different and the same. While one church is found at the end of a beautiful, winding, country lane, another is found on main street in the center of town. Some are small, others large. Some are filled with "city-folk", the others filled with "country-folk". Although different in many ways, they are all committed to the Lord Jesus Christ and seek to bring our world to Him.

Thirty-five churches in Webster and Claiborne parishes form the Webster-Claiborne Association. Twenty-five churches in Bienville parish form the Bienville Association. While these two associations have their own officers and ministries, they also share many cooperative ministries as well. The common thread that brings these churches together is the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention. This is a voluntary giving program in which churches combine their strengths to support mission causes around the world. Together these churches support missions through the North American Mission Board, International Mission Board, Louisiana Baptist Convention, and local Associational Missions.

Insurance Crisis:

Many of you have experienced the recent insurance problems facing our state. Camp Harris, my office, and several churches had their insurance canceled last year and scrambled to find someone to write us. Many more will experience the same soon. As a result, there is basically only one carrier in the state that provides church coverage, and their rates are spiraling upward. The deductions and costs for the new policies are making many questions if they can afford insurance.

Due to this crisis, Dr. Horn, our Louisiana Baptist Director, has initiated an effort with other denominations and other non-profit institutions to petition the state of Louisiana to allow an alternative. This alternative was granted, and we have a year to get information together to get a self-funded program. Gallagher insurance that specializes in non-profits is being used to gather information.

Please help your fellow churches to gather information. By submitting information, you are not making a commitment or signing up for anything. The information will be used to build facts that will make it possible for alternative policies to be offered to non-profits. To gather this information a simple request form is available. You have the option to go to your present carrier to get the information or to give permission to Gallagher to get it for you. Even if you don’t think you need alternative insurance right now, please submit the information anyway. Our crisis is only going to get worse and one day you may want that alternative.

You can go to this site for the form. https://louisianabaptists.org/insurance

AMS/DOM Search Committee Updates

The committee has prayerfully considered the 18 resumes received. They have carried out several interviews and have now narrowed the search to a couple of candidates. Pray for them as they continue through the process.

Party Trailer:

Thank you, Camp Harris team, for redoing our Associational Party Trailer. We are developing new check out procedures to help manage the trailer. Please call us to reserve the trailer.

LBC News and Events:

Ideally a church should operate on 80% of their budget and invest 20% into missions. A Louisiana Southern Baptist Church will often donate 10% through the Cooperative Program which supports International Missions, North American Missions, Seminaries, and Louisiana Baptist Missions. The church would then give between 3-5% to the association. This supports Camp Harris, Baptist Student work at Tech, Rolling Hills, Granberry Counseling, Truck Stop Bible distribution and your DOM and Mission Center. That same Louisiana Church will perhaps donate another 5% to designated ministries and offerings. Please know that supporting our missionaries is a great investment of your mission dollars. We as Southern Baptists do mission sending better than any other organization out there. If you need me to come discuss with you the avenues available to you for giving, please call me. I believe there are ways for you to feel good about supporting SBC Missions. I know firsthand through my daughter in Portugal, how good our program is.

Let me remind you that our Associations receive no funding from the SBC or the LBC. All our funding comes direct from you. As you consider your giving, don’t forget us! Camp Harris, Tech BCM ministry, Rolling Hills, Granberry Counseling, Truckstop Bible Distribution Ministries and all the consultations and ministries of the DOM are all funded by you and you alone. I thank you for your gifts but also remind you due to inflation what was given in the past no longer meets the needs of the present. Can you increase your gifts? Every cent given in ministry through your association is needed and appreciated.
